SEGESE : Système Expert en GEstion Socio-Economique
SEGESE is a WEB application, developed in 1986 by the ISEOR research team in collaboration with the Lyon INSA computer science team directed by Professor Jacques Kouloumdjian. It is designed to model the knowledge acquired on the functioning of companies and structured in the form of a tree of themes, sub-themes, sub-sub-themes and key ideas relating to the dysfunctions of companies.
In 2022, the database consists of approximately 5,600 key ideas, divided into 6 themes, 48 sub-themes and 270 sub-sub-themes. This generic tree structure was built by capitalizing on more than 2,000 cases of companies and organizations and accumulating knowledge as SEGESE was used, by conducting horizontal, vertical and integral socio-economic diagnoses.
How it works: :
The user (consultant or expert in socio-economic management) isolates extracts previously selected in his exhaustive note-taking of the interviews - the "witness sentences" expressed by the actors - and then classifies them in the tree structure themes/sub-themes/sub-sub-themes/key ideas. Then he proceeds to classify the sentences, considered as contextual knowledge, in the generic knowledge base of the software.
This approach allows him to build the mirror effect, which allows the actors who have expressed themselves to validate the analysis that the user has made of their expressions
SEGESE is used to develop all of ISEOR's socio-economic diagnoses. It is marketed and made available to companies and franchised consulting firms in socio-economic management and to master's and doctoral students.
Technical description and access:
SEGESE has undergone several changes since the 1990's, depending on the evolution of needs and technological advances. Currently it is a rich application (RIA) with a 'multi-layer' architecture, developed under Mi-crosoft Blazor, which makes use of a Web API for business processing and the supply of data stored in a database.
The application is now accessible on the Internet from a web browser, under certain access conditions.
The new intuitive user interface and the business processes of the web service are the results of close col-laboration between ISEOR management, its researchers and the IT development team.
SEGESE derivatives:
From the SEGESE Professional version, different variants have been developed according to the users' new needs: a version for VSEs with the same structure of themes, sub-themes, sub-sub-themes, but with a base of key ideas limited to about 500 and versions for targeted diagnoses on: strategic intelligence, com-mercial and marketing practices, human resources management, socio-economic evaluation, self-evaluation of an academic publication. ... as well as a SEGESE G version that allows you to generate spe-cific nomenclatures, a complete tree structure of themes, sub-themes, sub-sub-themes and key ideas.
The In-depth Socio-Economic Diagnosis and VSE Socio-Economic Diagnosis versions have been translat-ed into several languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Dutch, including a database of key dysfunc-tions, which has been translated as ISEOR's intervention-research activities have become more internation-al.
